Preservation Ceremony at Wilderness, Va.
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Wilderness Battlefield
CWPT cordially invites you to join Pulitzer Prize-winning historian James McPherson, Virginia Secretary of Natural Resources Doug Domenech and other preservation leaders to to celebrate efforts to preserve a key portion of the Wilderness Battlefield located along State Route 20, near Saunders Field.
The event and news conference will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. The celebration will also include refreshments and a public walking tour.
The event will be held near the National Park Service's Wilderness Battlefield exhibit shelter on Route 20. There is no public parking on site; shuttle service will be provided from Ellwood Manor, 36380 Constitution Highway, Locust Grove, Va., beginning at 9:00 a.m. Members of the media and the public are encouraged to arrive early to participate in a period music demonstration and other activities. Following the news conference, the public is invited to on a walking tour of the battlefield; please have appropriate footwear if you intend to participate. Shuttles will return attendees to the parking area at Ellwood, which will be open for public tours until 2:00 p.m.
