Stephan F. Newhouse

Stephan F. Newhouse is the former President of Morgan Stanley & Co., an international investment bank and also former Chairman of Morgan Stanley International Inc, the holding company for all of Morgan Stanley’s non-North American subsidiaries.
Mr Newhouse joined Morgan Stanley in 1979, became a Managing Director in 1988, Vice Chairman in 1997, Chairman of Morgan Stanley International in 2000, and President of Morgan Stanley in December of 2003 in which capacity he served until April of 2005.
Mr. Newhouse was born on March 1, 1947. He attended Yale University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in 1969. After serving as an officer in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1972, he went on to attend the Harvard Business School where he earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration with Distinction in 1975. From 1975 to 1979 he worked in the investment banking division of the First Boston Corporation. He is a Director of Alterra Capital Holdings Ltd., a Bermuda based insurance company. He also serves of the Advisory Board of CMC Capital Corporation, the investment management company of the Cha family of Hong Kong.
