How do I know if I was accepted?
This professional development is open to all K-12 educators; there is no application, only registration. As soon as you register you are all set and on our list of attendees!
What is the cost?
There is no cost! There is a $100 refundable deposit, just to save your place and ensure attendance. You might also incur expenses through travel and lodging, but the event is free, thanks to our donors. We will issue refunds after the event, after we have received a significant portion of completed evaluation forms. This usually takes a few weeks.
Who is eligible to attend?
Any educator that works with students in grades kindergarten through 12, not just history teachers.
Will meals be provided?
Yes, certain meals will be provided. Refer to the schedule to see which ones.
What should I wear?
Ah, the eternal question. Business casual or casual will work for everything but the tours. For the tours you want to wear comfy, cool clothes and comfortable walking shoes. You also want to be sure to put on sun screen before hand and bring an umbrella just in case of rain. We will be outside and it will most likely be hot.
Can I bring a friend or family member to the meals, workshops, and/or tours?
No, this event is strictly for K-12 educators. All funding is provided for the purpose of supporting educators in their Civil War instruction. Space is very limited so no exceptions will be made. We are serious about the "no exceptions" rule - please do not call and beg, as you can imagine, we have very big hearts here and it hurts us to have to say no.
Do you offer continuing education units?
Yes, Amount of units TBD. Continuing education units will be mailed to your home following the event.
