12:45 pm - Load buses for of Lincoln’s New Salem Historic Site – Meet in lobby
1:00pm to 5:00 pm - Tour of Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site: www.lincolnsnewsalem.com. New Salem, located approximately 20 miles Northwest of Springfield, IL, is a reconstruction of the 1830’s village where Abraham Lincoln lived for about 6 years during his young adult life. There is an introductory film, followed by a self-guided tour through the town. Costumed interpreters will be happy to answer your questions and talk with you about life in the village during the 1830’s.

8:00 pm to 9:00 pm - Lecture by John C. Waugh entitled "What made Lincoln Great". In his own words, Jack is a “journalist turned historical reporter, biographer of Abraham Lincoln, and award-winning author of nine works of non-fiction about the American Civil War.” His latest book is One Man Great Enough: Abraham Lincoln’s Road to Civil War.
