Fall 2008 Internships
The Civil War Preservation Trust (CWPT), America's largest battlefield preservation organization, provides students interested in history and conservation with opportunities few groups can offer. If you have a passion for the Civil War, CWPT is the place you want to be.
CWPT offers internships on a year-round basis. Internships
can vary in length from an entire semester to a few
weeks in duration. Interns can choose to work part-time
or full-time.
Interns will get hands-on experience working on a
variety of projects for a nonprofit organization.
Because CWPT has a small office, interns have the
benefit of taking on projects of a more crucial nature
than would be seen in a larger firm. Thus, for the
duration of the internship, he/she becomes part of
the team.
Possible projects will coincide with the individual intern's interests and skill sets. Depending on interest, an intern might engage in any number of the following activities: developing content for our organization's website and quarterly magazine, Hallowed Ground; constructing land acquisition applications; maintaining public relations resources; researching possible donors; or researching individual battlefield history for education and marketing materials.
In order to help us evaluate appropriate internship matches, applicants should be sure to indicate both their areas of previous experience and the types of skills they hope develop over the course of their tenure with CWPT.
To apply, send your resume and cover letter (specifying areas of interest and dates of availability) along with a list of references and two writing samples, to:
