Sign the Petition to Limit Airport Expansion Near Lexington & Concord

In just one year, America will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the “shot heard ’round the world” and the start of the Revolutionary War at the Battles of Lexington & Concord.

But a proposed major expansion of a general aviation airfield immediately adjacent to the battlefield stands to bring increased traffic from private jets, exacerbating issues of noise pollution, air quality and vehicular traffic jamming historic roads.

Hanscom Field is already New England’s second-busiest airport and adding 17 new hangers with nearly 500,000 square feet of impervious surfaces will dramatically increase the impact of the airport on visitors to the battlefield directly in its flight path.

A public comment period on the project is open through June 14, 2024. This is related to state-level review before consideration proceeds to the national level. Please consider signing the Trust’s petition so we may register our supporters’ thoughts with the appropriate bodies.
